In brief: EP housing prices rise 7.9% in 3rd quarter

El Paso home prices increased 7.9 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same quarter a year ago, shows the House Price Index published last week by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.
El Paso's increase ranked as the 18th highest in the nation. Nationally, home prices increased 1.8 percent, the index shows.
The index tracks average house price changes in repeat sales or refinancings of the same single-family homes.
The National Association of Realtors recently reported that El Paso's median home price increased 4.5 percent to $135,800 in the third quarter compared to a year ago.
